Alex Ferguson slams FA for Gerrard let-off

ALEX FERGUSON faces the FA's wrath after blasting: You don't know what you're doing.

Fergie branded disciplinary chiefs 'dysfunctional' and implied they were biased in the wake of Steven Gerrard's let-off for elbowing Portsmouth's Michael Brown.
That ruling came just two months after Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand landed a four-match ban for a similar incident.
United boss Ferguson said: "I didn't expect him (Gerrard) to be charged simply because it is a dysfunctional unit at the FA.
"I don't think they know what they are doing. You just scratch your head at some of these decisions, there is no consistency.
"But I certainly think if it was a Manchester United player he would have been done - as was the case with Rio Ferdinand."
Gerrard's let-off means Liverpool's skipper is free to face United in tomorrow's showdown.
But Fergie wants more ex-bosses involved in the disciplinary process.
He added: "I wonder if it's worth exploring some managers who don't have a job at the moment taking over that department.
"These guys have played the game and that's the big advantage they would have over the people doing it at the moment."
