Man City back on Torres trail

MANCHESTER CITY'S quest for Fernando Torres has been re-ignited by Rafa Benitez's Anfield exit.

Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini has never hidden his admiration for the Spanish striker, 26. But City feared their hopes had disappeared when they missed out on the Champions League.
That led them to Edin Dzeko but they were never going to pay Wolfsburg's £34million asking price.
Now City are monitoring developments at Liverpool.
And they know Torres' relationship with ex-boss Benitez was one of the factors which made it difficult for him to leave.
If City do mount a serious bid next month they are likely to face competition from Chelsea, who are ready to smash the British transfer record to sign him.
Meanwhile, City remain interested in Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure but his wage demands could prove to be a sticking point.
