Ajax have confirmed the signing of former Middlesbrough striker Mido on a one-year contract.
Mido spent time on loan at West Ham last season
Mido, 27, was allowed to leave Boro on a free transfer as he was considered surplus to requirements and, having spent time at Ajax from 2001 to 2003, he has agreed a deal to return to Amsterdam.
Boss Martin Jol told the club's official website: "We needed an extra striker and we have limited resources which have to be considered."
Mido spent time on loan with West Ham last season and has also played for Celta Vigo, Marseille, Roma, Tottenham, Wigan and Zamalek.
Meanwhile, Ajax have loaned defender Robbie Wielaert out to Roda JC on a year-long deal. Wielaert is out of contract next summer.
