Birmingham have opened talks with Tottenham over a January deal for Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane, according to reports.
It is widely expected that the experienced forward will be on the move this month after falling out of favour at White Hart Lane. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that he will not stand in the Irishman's way should a suitable offer materialise.
Numerous clubs are hoping to take advantage of Keane's availability, with the 30-year-old very much a man in demand.
Birmingham are among those hoping to tempt the Republic star with the offer of regular football and have already made their move.
It is understood that Blues officials have already made an approach to their Tottenham counterparts, with discussions now underway.
Alex McLeish's side are likely to face a battle to land Keane's signature, though, with Wolves, Sunderland and Newcastle all believed to be admirers of the former Liverpool and Leeds hitman.
